Hi there,

first of all. You made a great job!

I tried to get the globecontrol resized when the size of the wpf control is changed.

But every time I change something rendering stops.

I need to display the globe in different sizes. From little preview window to fullscreen.

The current solution with viewbox is not applicable because of the license from MS.
In preview the bing logo is to small and copyright isn't readable.

Anyone a solutions for this problem?

Greets from germany

thenonhacker: We were planning to make a wrapper, but there turned out to be enough incompatibilities in the models between InfoStrat.VE API and the new Bing Maps WPF API that it would not provide a lot of value since it'd be an unnecessary wrapper. If you're interested in using the 2D control, I'd recommend just using it directly. The transition from InfoStrat.VE to Bing Maps WPF is not too difficult, depending upon which features you were using.

This is Sacha Barber, I used this superb control in the past, and have not looked at it since. But my goodness its got so much better. I will be having to use this soon for something at work.

Just one thing. I loaded the demo project and ran both,

DataBindingSample.VS10

WPFVEMapSample.VS10

Run fine, but when I play with the map for a while (say click on pin in WPFVEMapSample.VS2010, then zoom in/out with mouse, then click close (using standard windows close icon (top right)), I get cross thread error on this line

            if (d3dImage.IsFrontBufferAvailable && veSurface != IntPtr.Zero)

in VEmap.cs Here is link to screenshot : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2600965/Blogposts/2012/InfoStratError.png

I think this may just need protected by Dispatcher.CheckAccess(), you probably know best.

Hello everyone,

I want to add a series of code generated polygons to my VEmap. Either as VEShapes or pushpins. I have all the code to generate PolygonGeometry objects/points, but I'm not grasping on how to wrap that information inside a VEShape/pushpin.

I've read some threads here on how to create a class that inherits from VEShape to achieve a similar purpose, however I need some pointers on how I can successfully do this for polygons (either Microsoft.MapPoint.Rendering3D.Utility.PolygonGeometry objects
or some other polygon object.

Can anyone help me on this? Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,

On related work to my previous post ( http://bingmapswpf.codeplex.com/discussions/279548 ) I came across the weirdest situation. To avoid making a mess of my posts, and since I believe they are separate problems, I decided to create a new discussion for
this matter.

Context: Map with several polygonGeometries, some of them are intentionally overlayed (using z-index).

Actions: Click over a given polygonGeometry or trigger MouseEnter/Leave event over a given polygonGeometry.

Result: The object isn't detected by the click or by the MouseEnter/Leave event, however if I apply some "offset" to my clicks/hovers over the PolygonGeometry, the events pickup the object on a "empty space" in the map, a couple of pixels
away for the actual object.

Aditional info: This behaviour goes away completely if I zoom in the object (almost to a full screen size), and starts getting worse as I zoom out. In High-level views of the map/objects it's impossible to click or hover any objects, or
at least they don't get picked up by the events.

So, right now my theory is that by some reason, in lower zoom scenarios, the map "missplaces" the polygonGeometrys (although it seems that they are drawn properly). Being the object missplaced, no shapeId/layerId are detected and thus no action over the
event is triggered.

If I could, I'd be happy to post a print-screen to ilustrate this predicament.

So, I would like to know if someone has already came across this situation and how it was fixed, and/or if I'm doing something wrong on my development (check the mouse events adventure on the post mentioned in the beginning of this discussion), because this
is on annoying problem that just doesn't go away... Any suggestion, tip or theory is most welcome!

Thanks in advance for reading and helping. Sorry for any bad english,

Hello everyone,

I've looked through the discussions, but I wasn't able to find an answer for this :( My problem is explained below.

For various reasons I'm generating a number of polygonGeometries and I'm placing those geometries on my map (unavoidable requirement, since they are drawn using coordinate data from a database), using:

.Host.Geometry.AddGeometry(poly);

This procedure works perfectly, as all items are properly generated and placed on the map. I also need however that the generated polygons respond to mouse click and MouseEnter/MouseLeave events.

I wasn't able to find any way to attach the events to the PolygonGeometry objects or to the Worldgeometry objects, so after digging a bit in the documentation, I found this procedure to enable events over the map:

Host.CommunicationManager.AttachToEvent(EngineEvents.Group, EngineEvents.OnMouseDown,"MouseDown",MouseDown);

Although this approach works and I can indeed trigger events over the map, I don't feel this should be the proper way, since the "listener" for those events aren't the objects, but the globe it self. So, on the handler object from the event I get a set of
data that lets me know what was clicked (shapeId, layerId) and where (latitude, longitude), among other things, forcing me to implement all sorts of ways to figure out which polygon (if any) was the target for the event and only then perform the desired
action.

In a nutshell, when the event is raised, all I get is general information about what was clicked, I then have to fetch the object in order to perform whatever actions I need for a given event.

So, in spite of everythting is working, I can't help the feeling that I'm overcomplicating something that should be simpler.

So, I decided to approach this discussion and ask you guys:

-What is the proper way to enable/attach mouse events on PolygonGeometry?

And for a bonus question:

-Am I using the proper procedure to create the PolygonGeometries?

Thanks in advance for helping and I'm sorry for any misspellings (english is my third language),

-RG

                            geCont.Host.Geometry.AddGeometry(poly);

geCont.Host.Geometry.AddGeometry(poly);

Using the example WinForms app from the link above, moving my Tile Cache folder to the system with tiles works great. What isn't great is that when I introduce Infostrat.VE to the mix, I can't render anything to the screen. I'm using the DataBindingSample

I've traced the problem down to the LocationChanged method of RegisteredPosition (an ILocationListener) never being called. I can even get things to render if I modify LatLongToPointInternal to ignore invalid registered positions.

This, of course, introduces another problem: one where invalid locations (for pushpins in this case) still render to the map. I could solve this by enforcing bounds to all location objects (LatLonAlt, LatLon , VELatLong, etc...) but would rather try to figure out why LocationChanged is never being called on this offline system.
