Detecting tap-and-hold on the map

Feb 17, 2011 at 2:16 PM

Hey there;  is there any way to detect a tap-and-hold gesture on the map? (On Surface 1.0)

We'd like to allow the user to select geographic information related to the place they tap-and-hold on the map, expanding the radius as they continue to hold their finger on the map...

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated...!

You can just subscribe to ContactDown then start a DispatcherTimer with a 33 millisecond interval. Display a circle that tracks the position of the finger (update during ContactMove) and every tick of the timer increase the radius and figure out what geographic features are within the circle. On ContactUp, stop the timer and then do something with the features selected by the circle.
